ANXIA

I have often been deeply moved by the profound significance underscored in encounters with elderly individuals of considerable affluence and influence, witnessing the palpable anxiety they harbor regarding the potential loss of their possessions.

The more fervently they clutch onto their riches, the more acute their anguish becomes, as they come to the poignant realization that the trappings of authority and prestige offer scant solace in the quest for grace and tranquility in the face of advancing years.

In actuality, the ego's fervent grip on power in all its manifestations is intricately intertwined with the dread of relinquishing that very power, thereby metamorphosing into a wellspring of affliction.

However, there exists a form of authority that does not instigate fear. It lies in spiritual dominion, the sovereignty of the enlightened consciousness.

By conferring primacy upon the power of the soul vis-à-vis terrestrial dominion, our perceptions of the transformations wrought by aging undergo a corresponding metamorphosis.
